[Name]: Lea
[Canon]: Kingdom Hearts
[Age]: Late teens/early twenties, to be quite honest he's not sure anymore
[Gender]: Male
[Canon Point]: Immediately after Dream Drop Distance
[History]: http://kingdomhearts.wikia.com/wiki/Lea
[Personality]:
When asked what he was like before he lost his heart, Axel answers “I think I've always been pretty much the same.” After Lea reawakens, these words are shown to be true. Though this is mostly due to the “burgeoning replacement of a heart” (Xemnas discusses this in 3D) Axel was fighting to form during his time with Roxas and later with Sora, the fact still remains that the Lea that awakens in Radiant Garden has only a complete heart to set him apart from his Nobody. Their personalities and dispositions are virtually identical.
Whether he likes it or not, Lea isn't the type to hide what he's feeling. Every bit of emotion he feels shows clear on his face and in his posture. When he speaks, he talks with his hands excessively, usually throwing his arms into the mix as well if he's excited about something. When he's sad, his whole body sags and he looks absolutely miserable. His whole demeanor is larger than life. He's flashy and pushy, to the point of being quick to start fights as a child. He has a smart mouth and he's incapable of being polite without somehow being an asshole about it. Surprisingly, though, he becomes quite flustered and embarrassed when thanked for something he's done. It's also a bit difficult for him to tell people that they're his friends at first, though he warms up to it later. When he's out of his element, he becomes slightly more reserved and keeps himself apart from people. Since reawakening, Lea has been out of his element pretty much all the time, trying to feel his way back to some sense of normalcy.
There are things that Lea does try very hard to keep to himself, for good or ill. For all that he runs off at the mouth sometimes, he's much more closemouthed about things that are actually important to him. It's not easy for him to talk about his feelings or what's going on in his life. Axel frequently tries to shield Roxas and Xion from the ugliness of what's going on in the Organization, just shutting them down as bluntly as he can and giving them as little information as he can get away with sharing. He becomes withdrawn when truly sad or lost because he doesn't want to share what's bothering him. There are times when it's difficult for him to speak at all for fear of revealing what's going on in his heart. No doubt this will continue now that he has an actual heart that can feel the full range of his emotion.
Lea is a man with a catchphrase. Even losing his heart didn't stop his every self-introduction (and many other statements) from ending with “Got it memorized?” He says it's because he wants to be immortal by living on through the memories of the people he meets and he does seem to be very concerned about people remembering his name and the things he tells them. When it comes to his own memory, however, he takes a much different approach. Axel tells Roxas that memories are “just baggage” and that they've “never done him any good.” Yet at the same time, he also says that memories are “what we don't want to lose” and “what makes things we don't want to lose.” It seems likely that at some point, his desire to be remembered became less about immortality and more about not losing his friends, as his remarks to Roxas may well be connected to his fear of what will happen to Roxas and to his own estrangement from Saïx.
Those Lea counts as friends are very important to him. He's very attached to his friends and protective of them and can become that way quite quickly. He warms up to Sora and Riku not too long after joining up with them in Dream Drop Distance and of course Axel attached himself to Roxas almost immediately. Isa chides Lea about “picking up stray puppies” in Birth By Sleep when he declares himself to be Ven's friend shortly after meeting him, so it seems to be something he's always done. Once he's decided that someone's his friend, he's very affectionate, always teasing and jostling them and making sure he's not too far away if they need him, even if he is pretty good about staying out of their business. Because he is so close to his friends, nothing makes him sadder or angrier than losing them. His estrangement from Isa is likely what caused him to cling to Roxas so tightly, and then losing Roxas led Axel to eventually sacrifice his life for Sora because it was all he had left to give.
In the opening to 358/2 Days, Axel is called an “assassin with motives of his own,” which is an apt description of the role he took within the Organization. Lea himself continues taking on “the icky jobs”after he reawakens, pointing out that “Dark Rescue is his middle name.” He doesn't shy away from difficult tasks and instead prefers to take them on himself. Saïx makes use of this and uses Axel as his agent during the events at Castle Oblivion and Axel doesn't hesitate to stain his hands to help his friend's rise to the top of the Organization. Despite his usual brash nature, he can become quite cold and calculating when hes working. He holds himself back and analyzes situations and can be slow to respond and act if it will compromise him somehow, both personally and when it comes to his mission.
[Abilities / Strengths & Weaknesses]:
As things stand at the moment, Lea is at a disadvantage when it comes to some of his abilities because he hasn't had much time to adjust to who he is now. As Axel, he was a skilled manipulator, very good at reading people and using what he saw to his advantage, however the majority of the people involved (himself included) didn't have hearts. It made their motivations easy to see and their actions easy to predict because there was only a gaping void beneath it all. It also made them not pick up on what Axel was up to because he was supposedly as empty as they were. Faced with people with hearts, things might not be so easy for him to twist in his favor at first, especially since he has the worst poker face ever. Everything he's feeling shows on his face, and the same was true even when he wasn't supposed to be feeling anything. The fact remains, though, that he's still a canny, sneaky bastard who's very good at teasing out people's flaws and turning them against them.
Even before he became a Nobody, Lea was working on honing his dual chakram fighting style. He's a very agile, versatile fighter, using his weapons at both short and long ranges and as a defensive shield as well. His preferred method of fighting relies heavily on the use of fire spells of great power and magnitude. He often sets the whole field of battle ablaze to give himself an advantage and relies on his chakrams to conduct and extend the range of his flame attacks. Lea is at a disadvantage in combat, however, if he chooses to use his Keyblade. With the Keyblade, he's limited to a single weapon he's not as proficient in and he has yet to adapt his fighting style to its use. However, he's determined to learn to use it, if only for the dramatic impact he knows it's going to have on opponents he knows he's going to have to face in the future, so he's currently trying to use it more often. When he can summon it reliably.
When it comes to magic, Lea is very proficient in fire spells of all magnitudes. It's what he uses more or less exclusively. It's not made clear if it's the only thing he can cast and it's probably assumed that to eventually pass his Mark of Mastery exam, he'll have to learn spells of other elements. At the moment, fire is his thing, but he may grudgingly accept that he's going to have to work on something else. As Axel, he had an innate resistance to fire and a weakness to ice, and for the sake of the game it's going to be assumed that he still does because of his continued affiliation with fire in Dream Drop Distance.
[Limited Powers]: For the sake of making things difficult for him, I'm going to say he can't open and travel through Corridors of Darkness. He's still capable of it in Dream Drop Distance, but he's going to find that he can't do it once he's pulled into the game setting. Also, like, Sora and Riku, he's going to find his MP effectively lowered. If he wants to rely on fire during the majority of a fight, it's going to have to be Fire or Fira spells and no huge Firaga conflagrations unless he wants to find himself out of juice really fast.
[Other Important Facts]: Not that I can think of!

[The handwriting that fills the page is a cramped scrawl that rejects the concept of margins and line breaks.]
Day 15
Made landfall at Breakneck Cay
Volunteered for recon duty
Recon duty icky job
Patching up ship boring job
On the beach - lots of skeletons, rotten ships, found broken chest full of rubber chickens
(Note to self: Give Sora a chicken, since apparently he wasn't making up stories about boxes full of puppies after all.)
Inland - empty clearing, clear paths, great big rock in the center: suspicious, jungle: creepy
[A while after the initial notes appear, an addendum is written in a slightly more legible hand.]
I checked the place out and it looks like we can scrounge supplies from the beach if we need it. If anyone wants to come along, I'm going to have another look at that rock. Bring a shovel and a helmet and try to keep up.
